Frequently Asked Questions

1. What do I wear during the massage?

Depending on the technique the therapist uses, you may or may not need to be clothed. During a "full body massage" most people undress completely, some people wear their underwear. The therapist will give you time to undress in private, you will be covered with a sheet at all times except the area that is being worked on.

2. How will massage feel?

It usually depends on the techique. Many massage therapist use a form of Swedish massage to start with long flowing strokes to help calm your nervous system and relax the muscles close to the surface of your body. As your body becomes more relaxed the pressure will increase releasing spasm and toxins. If at any point you are experiencing discomfort please let your massage therapist know so the pressure can be adjusted.

3. How long will a massage treatment last?

The average full body massage will last 60 minutes. A 30 minute massage allows only enough time to work a specific area of the body such as the back or neck. Most people prefer to have a 60 or 90 minute massage to allow for optimal relaxation.

4. How will I feel after the massage session?

Most people feel very relaxed after a massage. Some people experience freedom from long term aches and pains developed from tension or repetitive activity. After the initial period of feeling slowed down people often experience increased energy, heightened awareness and greater productivity for days. Since toxins are released from soft tissue during a massage it is suggested that you drink plenty of water following your massage.
